Weekly Push Back

Pushback #14 and a NEW Interactive Weekly Show 🎙

ASOTU Family,

As 2021 starts gaining some momentum my hope is that you are feeling optimistic and motivated to serve each other and the millions we collectively serve each week. Things are moving and shifting, but one thing is certain, we will find a way to Push Back, together.

Join us for our: LIVE Weekly Debrief on Fridays at 2pm on the new Clubhouse App where I’ll be talking live with Dealers and Industry Innovators in an open forum where you can ask questions and be an active part of the conversation. On the show this week are:

  • Lissette Gole, Head of Automotive Retail at Google to talk about what Google is focusing on in 2021
  • Brian Benstock, to discuss...well it really could be anything, but worth listening to
  • Alan Haig, President of Haig Partners to discuss what he’s seeing in Dealer valuations

On a personal note, I’m personally excited to tell you that I was invited to partner with NYT Bestselling Author, Simon Sinek to teach this new course on branding in his classroom. The first session is on January 28th and I hope some of you can join me!

We’re not lifting our foot off the accelerator and hope you aren’t either!

Auto Industry News

Stellantis, Our Fourth Automotive Overlord

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Group PSA approved a $58B merger that will now produce jeep, RAM, Dodge, Mawerati, Alfa-Romeo, Peugeot, Citroen, DS, Opel, and Vauxhaull.

Telling it like it is — It will be interesting to see what this merger brings, considering Fiat and Chrysler are the weaker brands yet are part of the namesake. Will this merger mean the road to health or will it highlight more dysfunction?

CarMax Has Gone Omnichannel

Like Spaceball 1 (from the eponymous Space Balls) going into unprecedented speeds when they went plaid, CarMax is entering a new omnichannel chapter of their existence. And they’re set to let everyone know about it.

Telling it like it is — CarMax is moving to meet consumers where they are by offering transactions that are physical, digital, or a mixture. How are you progressing your digital retailing?

Light at the End of the Tunnel?

With strong momentum built in the last bit of 2020, experts are optimistic about consumer confidence and car sales for the second half of 2021.

Telling it like it is — Things are looking more like the old “normal,” and with that will come an influx of new consumers with money to spend and financing to capitalize on. What are you doing to prepare yourselves for 2021?

Marketing/Technology

Bing Brings It

Yes, we know everyone is excited to have one more channel to track, but this could really be a good thing. Bing Webmaster tools will now allow you to see crawling and indexing data directly in the search performance report. It’s all about the data, baby! And as always, the first ones in, usually win.

What the Kids Are Up To

Alexis G. Zall

With 1.07 million subscribers, Alexis is sharing life lessons through satirical and fun videos. Because we all just want to laugh, right?

We know it’s crazy out there, keep calm and Push Back.
